7 months and 3 days to go for the event

What is the International Day of People with Disability?
The IDPwD is a day sanctioned by the UN to increase the awareness among the public about differently- abled people. According to them, they feel that the world should dedicate one day in a year to recognize, appreciate and glorify the works and give an applause for all the achievements of any differently abled person.
Every year, the International Day of People with Disability has a theme. In 2018, the theme is ‘Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality’. The officials at the United Nations, they plan and dream to create a sustainable and equitable world wherein these people can survive together with the ’normal’ people. This theme was decided upon as per the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Agenda pledges that no one should be left behind in society because of a disability or for whatsoever reason.
What is being Differently Abled?
This is a disorder essentially, by no fault of theirs. So, they deserve some extra care to prove that they too are special in their own way. Humanity can and should be a bit more kind hearted to accept and let them live in peace in this world.
As per the statistics, almost 15% of the people around the world, are those who live along with their fair share of various kinds of disabilities. On this special day, they are given a platform to speak about the challenges they face in life.
The disabled group of people are called ‘The World’s Largest Minority’ are ones who are facing a lot of difficulties in daily life. This affects their movement, their career, their livelihood, their right to information and even their interactions with society.
Often they are denied of their rights and are exploited in many ways. So, on this day, the world has to remember to constantly lend a helping mind and hand to the less fortunate people like the differently abled.
