Falling in love is easy, staying in love is not. When you  begin to know a person inside out, it's only a matter of time before misunderstandings arise. We are all capable of love.

Bring out the love

That tiny smile you get when you listen to a particular song. A special look that gives you butterflies in your tummy. That unknowing smile while reading a WhatsApp message. A quick peek to check if that special someone glanced your way. There wouldn’t be anyone, who has not felt any of these. We are all born with the innate ability to appreciate beauty and love. Life is all about second chances. We all make mistakes. Loving someone only when all is well, does not give you the assurance that your love will stand the test of time. Life can literally suck the love out of you.

Love takes time, dedication and zeal on the side of both parties to make it work. It can be tempting to pull back, but as demanding as it may be, helping your loved one cope will benefit your relationship. A new research at the University of Alberta reveals that when we experience stress, we become vulnerable and that's why partner support in times of stress is very impactful and long-lasting. Feelings of increased self-esteem was noted in both partners after helping out their better half. Or in other words, giving to their partner made them feel better about themselves.

Its not rocket science to help a partner struggling with depression or self-doubt. Here are some tips:

Lend an empathetic ear -  Listening can go a long way to make your partner feel loved. Effective communication is key for a healthy relationship.

Providing "invisible support" - Instead of getting some help by nagging, offering support when they least expect it goes a long way in strengthening relationships.

Get creative - You dont have to burn a hole in your pocket to show some love. Let your ideas run wild!

Seek to relate, not blindly agree - Conversations quickly turn to arguments when we want to drive our point home. Try to understand them, instead of waiting to hearing our partner admit that we were right.

Talk it out - Not everyone has the innate ability to communicate effectively. You may be an ambivert but have an introvert partner. This makes situations tricky. Staying on the same page is key to maintaining sanity.  Talk it out calmly. Get it out of your system.

Look beyond their imperfections -  Your partner's annoying habit may tick you off. That funny snort while laughing was cute when you dated, but it could annoy the hell out of you now. Talk it out but remember, habits take time to break. Be patient and positive.

If you loved someone once, you could love them again. Take time to reflect, forgive, accept and embrace your partner for whoever they are.
