Piaggio is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1884. Currently it is the market leader in Europe and has expanded its services to over 50 countries with a prominent presence in Asia too. Piaggio’s vehicle range includes scooters, mopeds and motorcycles starting from 50 to 1200 cc under seven brands; Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Derbi and Scarabeo and the corporate headquarters is located in Pontedera, Italy. Piaggio successfully integrates the best of global technology, design, research, infrastructure and intelligent manpower equipped with marketing and financial skills.

Since the Second World War Piaggio has pioneered the mobility revolution, improving the quality of life of Italian and other European. Piaggio first licensed the production of Vespa scooters in India through Bajaj Auto. Due to some political struggle Piaggio could not renew the license and later by 2012 Delhi Auto Expo launched new Vespa scooters in India and now with a factory in Baramati, the company is planning to expand that portfolio. Piaggio sells six models in India; SXL 150, VXL 150, SLX 125, VXL 125, Elegance and the Vespa LX 125. The scooters are sold through regular Vespa showrooms and Motoplex. Piaggio’s premium showroom sells the motorcycles. Piaggio is looking forward to expand its sales network in India over 350 dealerships by the end of this year
