Who was Jawaharlal Nehru?

Jawaharlal Nehru is lovingly called as Chachaji or Chacha Nehru by children in India. He was the first Indian Prime Minister who loved children and never minded going that extra mile trying to express his affection to these energetic youngsters,

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru believed that ‘The children of today will be the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country.’

He was a leader who wanted the lives of children to improve over time. For this, he emphasised that the government and society should focus on the welfare, nutrition, education and overall development of every girl and boy child.

Children should be protected from the evils of exploitation and discrimination wherever they are and in whichever place they reside and belong to.

The Importance of Nehru Jayanti

It is the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and that is also celebrated as the India Children's Day.

Until 1964, Children Day was just an International day. But after the death of Nehru,  people in India decided that India should have her very own Children Day and that is how the Indian Children's Day was born.

He was a man of substance and wanted people to improve in both thought and deed.  He dreamt of an India that was developed and that is has been laying a stable foundation for India ever since.

He took part actively in the development of the famous educational institutions within India. An evidence of his dreams and hard work can be seen in the Indian Institutes of Technology, AIIMS, and even the management schools of today.

November 14th is indeed a huge tribute for his actions and plans that helped build a better world for the Indian youth of today.
