She completed her school from T. Nagar, Chennai and holds a degree in Commerce from the famous Stella Maris College. The actress got into modelling during the last year of her college as a part time job and became noted while appearing for Naidu Hall, a famous retail chain specializing in women’s wear.
Her debut
Samantha made her debut as an actress in Gautham Menon’s 2010 movie, ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’, the Telugu remake of ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’, with Naga Chaitanya in the leading male role. She received her first Filmfare award for the film and has always credited Gautam menon for turning her into cinema material..

"When it comes to my life, especially my career, I take all the calls myself. It has always been that way since I was a child. I don't come from a very rich family where I was pampered and molly-coddled. Being street-smart and independent was a necessity. I've been doing things on my own ever since I can remember. That's why you'll never find my mom hanging around the sets while I am working. In fact, I find that whole notion quite ridiculous. I don't think you'd take your mom or dad along if you work in a software company. Why, even children aren't allowed to take their parents to school with them", says the actress.

She is never known to shy away from controversies either - in fact she has made some of the biggest controversies from recent past, that too against her male counterparts from cinema. She once got in the way of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu fans' anger, when she tweeted on his new film poster on how regressive the poster is to women. Charity NGO named ‘Pratyusha Support’
Always lamenting about her lost privacy and impressing repeatedly on how private a person she is, this actress is rather very serious about her social commitments and activities. Samantha runs a charity NGO named ‘Pratyusha Support’ with Padmashri Dr. Manjula Anagani. The trust conducts blood donation campaigns, free surgeries for children and help support their dreams. Samantha reached an agreement with Andhra Hospitals in 2015 to sponsor the vaccinations for children.
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya
Samantha and Naga Chaitanya began dating in 2015 and got engaged to each other in a private ceremony in Hyderabad last month. The couple first appeared together onscreen in ‘Ye Maaya Chesave,’ Samantha’s debut movie. The Akkineni and Prabhu family belong to different religious backgrounds but they have all come in support for the couple deciding to put a ring on their relationship.
Thoughts of Marriage
This is what the actress has to say on marriage: "I am one of those girls who'll put everything else on hold when it's time to start a family. So whenever I am ready, I will hang my boots and say thank you very much. It is easy for me to want to be successful and famous and do all of this because at some level, it is a very selfish thing. But when I look at my mom, I realize that being a mother and a wife are totally selfless acts and it is a much bigger accomplishment."
