Significance of Vishnupathi Punyakalam:

Vishnupathi Punyakalam is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. As mentioned there are four Vishnupathi Punyakalam days in a traditional Hindu calendar and it is also closely linked with the Tamil Vaishnava culture. Even though entire day is favourable for Vishnu Puja, there is a specific time during the day that is highly auspicious for worshipping Lord Vishnu or ‘Narayana’. As per the Hindu beliefs Lord Vishnu performed several divine actions that were necessary for benefit of the Universe during Vishnupathi Punyakalam. Henceforth, Hindus offer prayers to Lord Vishnu during this time to seek His blessings for material prosperity, quick dissolution of mental impurities and overall spiritual evolution. It is also believed that a person who performs Vishnu Puja during Vishnupathi Punyakalam attains ‘moksha’ and is freed from the cycle of birth and death.
