The Pradosh Vrat or the Pradosham, is observed on the Trayodashi Tithi of both Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha every month as per the Hindu calendar. The Vrat is observed in honour of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The upcoming Chaitra Shukla Paksha Pradosh Vrat is on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
On April 21, the Sunrise is at 06:04 AM and the Sunset is at 06:46 PM. The Trayodashi Tithi commences at 10:42 PM on 20th April and ends at 01:11 AM on the following day. The Pradosha Puja timing is from 06:46 AM to 09:01 PM.
Devotees across the nation observe the Vrat irrespective of gender with dedication and spirit. It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati feel extremely elated and generous on the day and bless the devotees in abundance.
On this auspicious day, devotees immerse themselves in the worship of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesh, Lord Kartikeya, and Nandi along with worshipping the Shivalinga in certain regions. Devotees also listen to the Pradosh Vrat Kadha, read stories from Shiv Purana, enchant Mrityunjaya Mantra, and visit temples.
